Council Responsibilities

Cranham Parish Council owns or is responsible for:

  • The Pound
  • Seats and benches around the village:
    • Playing Field(2), Knoll, Bunny Hill, Millennium Post, VE nr Cricket Field, Heather Newman Bench, Pound and on road above Woodside Farm
  • Land between Church Close & Playing field
  • Maintaining the footpath leading to the houses in Church Close
  • Bus Shelters at Cranham Corner (within USL parish) and by the Village Hall
  • Notice Boards
    • The Knoll, Opposite School, Scout Centre, Village Hall, Cranham Corner
  • Cranham Playing Field – conveyed to the Parish Council as a charitable trust; managed by a separate committee drawn from village societies and parishioners.
  • Allotments in Church Close and 2 on Playing Field
  • Car parking at the Village Hall, part of car park above pub and by the Scout Centre
  • Parish Plan – preparation and updating
  • The Defibrillator outside the Village Hall
  • Maintaining up to date details of the Village Emergency Telephone Service (VETS)
  • Providing a representative on the Cranham Common Management Committee
  • Providing a representative on the Cranham Playing Fields Committee
  • Providing a representative on the Cranham Village Hall Committee

Stroud District Council is responsible for:

  • Refuse and recycling
  • Fly Tipping
  • Council Housing
  • Planning

Gloucester County Council is responsible for:

  • Maintenance of highways and footpaths
  • Social services
  • Education
  • Libraries
